Permanent Makeup

What is permanent makeup?

Permanent Makeup, also known as cosmetic tattoo or micropigmentation is a cosmetic procedure for implanting color pigments on the skin using sterile disposable and single use needles with either a manual pen or machine. We offer a wide range of cosmetic services including eyebrow hairstroking, eyebrow shading, eyeliner tattoos, and lip tattoos using quality pigments.

Who are not suitable for permanent makeup?

The following are not suitable to get permanent makeup procedure: * Pregnant and nursing clients * Using Accutane within a year * Have heart conditions or using heart medications * Have diabetes (will require a physician's note) * Have skin disease like cold sores or irritations especially on the area getting treatment * Have had botox in the last 2 weeks * Have gotten a deep tan or chemical peels in the last 2 weeks * Allergic to lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine, or epinephrine * Anyone who has any serious medical conditions may require a physician's note We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who we deem not suitable for this procedure or for any other reason. Our technicians make the decision to perform services for an individual based on their on discretion.

How long does pmu last?

Depending on what area is being treated, permanent makeup usually lasts from 1-5 years. Brows, with complete treatment, last 1-2 years. Eyeliner, 3-5 years. Lips, 1-5 years. This also depends on skin quality, aftercare, and lifestyle. Clients who: - have more oil production (may start to fade as soon as 6 months for Microblading) - frequent sun exposure without proper sun protection - use skin care products that increases skin cell turnover rate (e.g. Retin-A, AHAs, glycolic acid, etc.)

What's the difference between eyebrow hairstroke and eyebrow shading?

Eyebrow hairstroke is a technique done by using either a manual pen or tattoo machine pen. Both are producing hyper realistic hair strokes. We offer different microblading and machine hairstroke style such as Phibrows, Boldbrows, Nanobrows, Cashmere brows, Veinsbrows, etc. Eyebrow shading is a pmu brow style where it looks more made up like having eyebrow makeup. Popular names for eyebrow shading techniques are Powderbrows, Magic Shading, Ombrebrows, etc.

What is machine hairstroking?

Machine hairstroke, also known as nanobrows, cashmere brows, veinsbrows, is a technique using a tattoo pen machine and a one point needle producing hairlike strokes. This technique is suitable for ALL skin types.

What is microblading?

Eyebrow microblading, also known as 3D eyebrows, eyebrow embroidery, feathered brows, microstroking, is a form of semi-permanent makeup procedure that produces very fine and hair like strokes that are tattooed on the brows. We use a manual pen with sterile tiny needles that make up a small blade, hence the name microblade. This method is most suitable for normal to dry skin.

What is eyebrow shading?

Eyebrow shading is more of a made-up look. It comes with different styles and names such as magic shading, powder brows, ombre brows, soft edged brows. All of which are using same techniques by implanting pigments in pixels but producing different styles because of the placement of colours and shades.

What are the difference between baby liner, classic liner, soft liner?

Baby liner, also known as lash enhancement, is an eyeliner tattoo where we only put pigments along the lash line to make it look more fuller. Classic eyeliner is thicker than baby liner, around 1-2 mm with a wing and crisp line. Soft eyeliner is a liner with soft shading or shadow.

What is lip tattoo?

Lip tattoo or lip blushing is a technique using a 1point needle to implant pigments on the lips. We offer different styles like Aquarelle, Luxurious Lips, Diamond Lips, Superbright or Lipstick effect, to Lip toning or tinting. Styles differ on pigment placement like soft contour, hard contour, ombre, or simply just natural to enhance the colour of lips.

Is touch up necessary?

Touchups are necessary and should be done between 6-8 weeks as it is very difficult to predict on how the skin will take the pigment. Everyone heals differently and results will vary depending on several factors like how oily the skin is, post treatment care, etc. Certain areas may not take pigments and will need to be refilled. The shapes and pigments may need to be adjusted, and more strokes or shading can be added. Individuals with oily skin often require a deeper shade during the touch up session because the oils tend to lighten the pigment. Most importantly, your touch up session is when we perfect the look to ensure it retains the color for a year or two.

Is it painful?

Everyone has different pain tolerance. Scared clients and clients who have their period are much sensitive and feel stronger pain. To ensure client's maximum comfort, we apply mild numbing cream agents before and throughout the procedure.

How long does a procedure take?

For initial treatment, upon the client's satisfaction and approval of the shape, style, and pigments to be used, we begin the procedure and this should take about 2 - 3 hours. The touch up session, which should take place around 6-8 weeks after the initial treatment, usually take about 1.5-2hours should there be any changes or adjustments with the shape.

How long does it take to heal?

Surface of the skin approximately heals around 7-14 days and coomplete healing takes around 28 days. The treated area will be slightly red after the procedure and color will appear extremely dark in the first 5-7 days. If you think that the color is too much for your liking, do not try to remove it yourself by any means. This is normal for the procedure and part of the healing process. As the skin heals more, you will see a slight scabbing. Do not pick at the scabs as this may damage the skin and the outcome of the treated area. You will notice the color is 40% lighter and faded right after two weeks and the skin will have an opaque milky looking quality to it. This is know as hypopigmentation phase. After this phase and as the skin rejuvinates, the pigments are pushed and will eventually return to the surface and look more defined.

Can I get a touch up sooner than 4 weeks?

We can do the touch upsession as soon as 4 weeks but not earlier than that. This is to prevent scar damage as the tissues require time to completely heal. Please note that, although the skin is completely healed at 28 days, treatments during this time is much painful to treat in a much brand new and younger skin. Some pigments are still settling into the skin around 4-6 weeks, hence we suggest a second treatment during 6-8 weeks after the first session.

What should I expect after the treatment?

After the treatment, the skin will start to feel and see some or all of the following (which are normal reaction of the skin as it heals) Day 1: Surface pain or numbeness only with 24 to 48 hours. Skin may feel hot within 24 hours. Redness around the treatment area with 24 hours. A little bit of blood within 24 hours ONLY if not picked Tightness up to day 5-7. Day 2-5: Color will get extremely dark, often causing the state of shock with clients, DO NOT attempt to forcibly remove it by any physical or chemical means. Day 5-7: Scabbing and flaking may appear but these symptoms will quickly disappear. Strokes may scab and look like it's falling off but that's normal. It is important that you do not scratch or pick the skin. You can wet a cotton pad and just press on the brow to calm the itching. Day 8-10: As the skin heals, 40 % of the strokes might fade and lose it's intensity because the skin creates a protective layer that will eventually disappear in 3-4 weeks and the treated area will show how well the skin has retained the pigments. Day 14-28: Treated area are still looking patchy and uneven. Some of the pigments will show as the layers of the skin with pigments are pushed out. We strongly advice to have your touch up done between 6-8 weeks after you initial trreatment to reach optimal result.

What are the risk and complications?

We take all proper safety and precautions before, during, and after each permanent makeup session. All needles are disposable, sterile and of the highest quality. All supplies required for micropigmentation are single use and parts of the euquipment that can not be disinfected or discarded are covered with single use plastic film barrier. Should clients follow our pre and post care instructions, there should be minimal risks and complications. Although allergic reactions to the pigment are rare, it could be possible for certain individuals.

What if I do not like it?

As with all cosmetic procedures, individuals should not make their choices lightly. We always recommend clients to do their research, understand the procedure and compare different artist's work and portfolio when making their decisions. Our pmu technician will do the utmost to shape and style to the client's satisfaction prior to the procedure. Every effort will be made to achieve an even appearance, but please realize our faces are never perfectly symmetrical. Uneven appearance can be fixed during the touch up session. Pigment discolouration and colour correction can also be fixed during the touch up session. Pigments on treated area will, though not completely, but eventually fade away if no additional touch ups are done.

Will I still have to wax of pluck after?

PMU does not affect hair growth. To maintain the perfected eyebrow shape, regular waxing or plucking is required.

How much does it cost?

Kindly see our Price List section.

Can I get a touch up even my brows are tattooed already?

If we are covering up an old permanent makeup previously done by another artist, please come with realistic expectations of what is possible to achieve. We would suggest to book a consultation with our artist to see if it is doable. If the old work has intense pigment and extremely uneven, we will suggest to get a removal first. Any hairstrokes done within the old tattoo may blend in and old microblading will still show. Book a complimentary consultation with us for proper assessment and appropriate treatment.

What to do after treatment?

* Always wash you hands before touching the tattooed areas. * Do not put makeup or any other cream (unless prescribed by your techinician) on the area for a minimum of 10 days. Microbladed area is an open wound and using makeup may cause infection. Please wait atleast the surface area is healed before applying makeup to the area. This may cause the pigment to spread and can cause infection. * No neosporin, vaseline, or other petroleum products while your brows are healing. Treated area will feel slightly itchy as it heals and will start to lightly scab over. Do not scrub, scratch, peel or pick at the scabs as this might lose colour and affect outcome that may not be repairable. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate off. Picking can also cause scarring. *No physical activity that wwill cause excessive sweating for 2 weeks folowing your procedure. This expands the pores and can make pigments spreead and cause it to look blurry. Do not go swimming, tanning, or got to saunas for atleast 14 days after treatment. *Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after procedure. Tanning (even after healing) can prematurely fade pigment, can change colour and make it appear ashy, and can overall affect pigment retention. *No facials, botox, or chemical treatments for 4 weeks. Face peels, even mild ones, microdermabrasion, kojic-based products, carrot soap, products with metathione and laser treatments may cause pigment to lighten. Any removal of dead cells on brow area can cause premature fading. *No anti-aging products or facial products containing Alpha Hydroxyls (AHAs). Retin-A, Lactic or glycolic Acids on the procedure site. These chemicals will also prematurely fade pigment. * Do not tweeze, wax, thread or use any hair removal products around the eyebrow area until two weeks following the procedure. * Do not over apply healing balm. *We advise not to make social plans for the same day as there may be some swelling and redness after the procedure. *Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 7 days.

Aftercare Procedure

DAY 1: For the first 24 hours after the treatment, clean the skin 3 times or every 2-3 hours (depends how much the lymph is coming out as skin types are different) by wiping the area with wet cotton pad or rinse out the skin using distilled water (or cooled down boiled water). Do not stretch the skin while wiping. Skin is well cleansed when there are no traces of pigment on the wipe. Wait for a minute for the skin to dry after wiping, then apply a thin layer of the prescribed balm. At night before going to bed, make sure to wash the face and treated area with distilled water and a little mild soap. Apply a thin layer of balm with circular and gentle movements like giving the treated area a mini massage. Day 2-7: Morning and night: Maintain facial hygiene and apply the balm after you have washed and cleaned your face. Dry and Normal skin: Repeat applying the balm 2-3 times a day for the next 6 days or whenever there’s tightening of the skin. Oily Skin: During the following few days, only apply the cream if you feel stretching of the skin on the treated area. *Note that success of the treatment will always depend on skin quality, aftercare, and exposure to external influences. These factors aren’t under control of the artist thus, any guarantee for the treatment is not be possible.
